人々は望みどおりに事が運ぶと考えて錨を上げ、

クレタ島の岸に沿って進んだ。

14しかし、間もなく「エウラキロン」と呼ばれる

暴風が、島の方から吹き降ろして来た。

13Now when the south wind blew gently,

 supposing that they had obtained their purpose,

 they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, 

close to the shore. 14But soon a tempestuous wind, 

called the northeaster, struck down from the land.
